Permabit History

Permabit was founded in 2000 when several visionary MIT engineers sought to bring to market solutions that could keep pace with the exploding amount of digital information. With Permabit Enterprise Archive, first launched in 2004, the company delivered a massively scalable storage solution that incorporated complex technologies in the areas of data efficiency, retention, management and protection. Permabit developed these groundbreaking technologies in house, advancing the science of the storage software and have been awarded 28 patents to date.

Permabit proved and seasoned these advanced solutions to high-end enterprise customers. Since then, the company has launched the Albireo family of products which focus on licensing Permabit data efficiency and management innovations to OEMs.

From home storage appliances, to specialized high performance enterprise storage and cloud services, Permabit Albireo software massively improves performance and efficiency of data creation, transmission and storage.
