Permabit’s Jered Floyd Named a Finalist for CTO of the Year by Network Products Guide
2011 Hot Companies and Best Products Awards honors Jered Floyd in CTO of the Year category
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.— April 26, 2011 — Permabit Technology Corporation, the leader in the development and delivery of Data Optimized Storage, today announced that Network Products Guide, industry’s leading technology research and advisory guide, has named Jered Floyd, Chief Technology Officer and founder, a finalist for the 6th Annual 2011 Hot Companies and Best Products Awards in the CTO of the Year category. These industry and peer awards from Network Products Guide are the world’s premier information technology awards honoring achievements and recognitions in every facet of the IT industry. Winners will be honored in Las Vegas on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 during the 6th annual dinner and presentations.
As a founder of the company, Floyd developed much of Permabit’s core product architecture and leads the progress of effective software development to fuel the company’s rapid growth. In addition to the company’s archiving and cloud solutions, Floyd played a large role in the development of Albireo, the industry’s first and only OEM embedded data optimization solution delivering real-time primary data deduplication. It was created by Floyd and his team for hardware and software storage OEMs seeking to improve their competitive position and improve margins with next generation data optimization. Due in part to Floyd’s leadership, the solution has broken industry performance barriers, and was named the clear winner for both performance and return on investment for IO–intensive workloads in Wikibon’s Capacity Optimization Ratio Effectiveness (CORE) analysis. In addition, Floyd’s innovation recently led to the next evolution of the company’s data optimization solutions, Albireo Virtual Data Optimizer for standard Linux platforms.
“Jered’s commitment to innovation has been the driving force behind Permabit and our Albireo solutions. By constantly pushing the envelope, he has evolved primary deduplication technology, and revolutionized its role within data optimization,” said Tom Cook, CEO of Permabit. “His work with our Albireo solutions has broken performance and scalability barriers and has created a new set of industry standards. We are proud to see him recognized for his work and look forward to delivering on the next level of innovation.”
Outside of leading the strategic development of Permabit’s data optimization technology and products, Jered is an avid social media user and a well known industry blogger. He serves on the organizing committee for CodeCon, a technology organization where programmers demonstrate work and keep abreast of what’s going on in their communities. He also served as the Co-Chair of the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) Fixed Content Aware Storage (FCAS) Technical Work Group, which delivered the XAM standard. Floyd frequently speaks at events on technology and software development practices and, in his spare time, he recently solved the ITA Software puzzle, a QR code of erratic black and white squares, which he spotted while traveling on the subway in Boston.
An annual achievements and recognition awards program with active participation from a broad spectrum of industry voices, the coveted annual Hot Companies and Best Products recognition program encompasses the world’s best in organizational performance, products and services, executives and management teams, successful deployments, product management and engineering, support and customer satisfaction, and public relations in every area of information technology.
