• Products were judged by a team of users, industry experts, analysts, consultants and the Storage Media Group editorial staff.  Judges rated the products by six criteria — innovation, performance, ease of integration into environment, ease of use and manageability, functionality and value.

• Of special interest to the judges was Permabit’s Enterprise Archive Data Center Series which addresses data growth challenges in archival storage with a combination of sub–file deduplication and compression, a grid–based architecture and industry leading data protection called RAIN–EC.

• In addition, the judges confirmed Permabit’s assertion that by dividing data among multiple storage and access nodes in the grid boosts performance to up to 2 Gbps through parallel processing; keeps archive data available in the event of a component failure; allows for rolling migrations to new hardware seamlessly; uses standard interfaces like CIFS, NFS and WebDAV that keep data accessible to multiple applications.  It also includes features such as data verification, replication, write once read many (WORM), and encryption for compliance.
