Patented Technologies for Cost–Effective Archive Storage

The Permabit Enterprise Archive™ and Cloud solutions are powered by Albireo™ High Performance Data Optimization technology that enables the industry’s most scalable and cost–effective archive storage. The base solution includes advanced data deduplication, data protection and security technology as standard features that are optimized for securing and optimizing large scale enterprise archives.

Optional modules allow for customization to meet any organization’s needs for disaster recovery, high availability and data retention policy management.

Technology Options

RAIN–EC

The RAIN–EC Erasure Coding technologies delivered in Permabit Enterprise Archive and Cloud represent a fundamentally new way of protecting data for grid storage, designed from the ground up for the unique challenges of a petabyte–scale archive. RAIN–EC is standard with Permabit Enterprise Archive and Cloud.

Scalable Data Reduction™ (SDR)

SDR technology combines high performance data deduplication with traditional compression techniques. Permabit’s massively scalable deduplication approach identifies segments of data within incoming data streams that are duplicates of segments already stored. SDR is standard with Permabit Enterprise Archive and Cloud.

WORM

WORM retention capabilities are built into the Permabit Enterprise Archive and Cloud. Access to WORM files is provided through standard CIFS and NFS file sharing protocols. Applications can directly designate retention requirements for files in a WORM volume using a protocol defined on top of the ordinary volume operations. WORM comes standard with Enterprise Archive and Cloud.

Snapshots

Permabit’s built–in Snapshot technology enables fast and efficient point–in–time views of data. Snapshots of a volume are created automatically at scheduled intervals or triggered manually by an administrator. Snapshots are standard with Enterprise Archive and Cloud.

Built–in Security

Permabit Enterprise Archive combines a secure operating system with advanced data encryption features together with industry–standard identity and access controls to provide the highest levels of data security. Encryption and other security features are standard with Permabit Enterprise Archive.

Replication Option

Replication is designed to address operational and compliance requirements for the replication of information to one or more remote sites. Extremely efficient replication is performed by leveraging Permabit’s advanced SDR, with no duplicate data sent across the wire.

Storage Pool Expander Option

The Storage Pool Expander option provides a “single pane of glass” view that enables unified management of up to 32 Permabit Enterprise Archive and Cloud storage grids.

High Availability Option

The High Availability (HA) module delivers a fault–tolerant configuration by joining two access nodes in a configuration.

Retention Policies Option

The Retention Policies option allows for retention policies to be set at the volume or file level allowing for retention policy enforcement for corporate or regulatory requirements.
